The weather was oppressively hot. Fortunately it wasn’t quite as humid as had been forecasted but it was still pretty brutal. We got there early to get a bite at Nathans and to my shock there was hardly a line.

Never in my life have I seen that much sidewalk (or hardly any sidewalk at all, really) in front of Nathans on a sunny Saturday afternoon in July. I guess it was just too hot.
Some curious sponsor booths lined up in front of the second stage

Dragons Of Zynth were the first act of the day. That’s the main stage. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people came later to miss most of the hottest part of the day. Nothing against Dragons of Zynth, but I think those people were smarter than us, even if I was able to get a hot dog withoutt waiting on line.

Fortunately, these these young college students were there to cool you down with a refreshing bath (aspiring nurses perhaps?)

One of the great things about this day and other Coney Island events is the distinctive crowd that Coney Island attracts.

My favorite band of the day was a Brooklyn act, Parts And Labor. I bought their CD.

By the time they were on, the place had packed out a bit. Man it was hot.

Meanwhile, the second stage was rocking, too.

Unfortunately we only hung around for the first half of the day. Four hours on that pavement on the hottest day of the year was enough for us. We were sorry to miss half of the festival but there’s always next year (we hope).
nice! i’ll have to delve into the vastness that is joe, guy of no particular consequence…
